Why is communication necessary? Children have the need to spend individual time with their parents without a brother or a sister. This quality time with the parent causes the child to feel loved as well as special and safe. Any child has a need to let their opinions be heard and respected even if their parents dont agree. If parents let them honestly communicate their frustrations, feelings, and needs, they create a platform where the children feel that its safe to communicate honestly. In this way, parents also help their children to communicate about negative things in a healthy way, and thus to deal with these feelings instead of to suppress them.
